Jane Hay’s business success is a direct result of her can-do, positive attitude, high energy work ethic and long-term vision for a real estate business that incorporates both free home staging and excellent customer service.
Jane’s diverse background in the fields of business operations, project management and customer relations helped to mold her unique approach to traditional real estate sales. “When I entered the real estate business, I wanted to do something no one else was doing. I wanted to make sure my listings stood out in a way that got them sold quickly,” Jane recalls.
“It’s not enough to put a sign in the yard, ad in the paper and wait and see what happens. I wanted each and every one of my listings to be professionally prepared for sale so that the home would appeal to the most amount of buyers and generate the highest price in the least amount of time on the market.”
Her business model has proven successful, and in three years Jane’s annual real estate sales grew to more than $8 million in 2011. A recent staging and real estate client summed it up best when she said, “Jane is a personable professional who takes care of every detail with energy, expertise and organization.”
Jane’s staging warehouse is filled with more than $10,000 worth of staging materials that make a home more inviting. Since first impressions of the yard and front door, along with sparkling bathrooms and kitchens, appeal most to buyers, she focuses on those areas.
“I have 20 bathroom sets that include a shower curtain, towels, washcloths and soap dispensers,” Jane explains. “I also have three full dining room sets, 11 different dining room dish sets, 75 floral arrangements and four outdoor patio sets. I like to set the dining room tables with place settings.” Her staging collection also includes entry tables, bookcases and mantle pieces.
Jane’s exceptional talent and work ethic have made both clients and peers take notice. Just this spring, she received the Capital Area Association of Realtors (CAAR) “Rising Star” award that is given annually by fellow real estate professionals to one REALTOR who has been in the business less than 4 years and stands out as both excellent in sales as well as in service to both the local community and the CAAR association.
Born and raised in Taylorville, Ill., Jane is deeply rooted in Central Illinois and remains devoted to promoting the area. She’s lived in the Springfield area for the over 20 years. In 1998, she and her family moved to Chatham, and since that time, Jane has been active in community service, including serving as the President on the Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce and secretary of the Chatham Area Public Library Foundation Board. In December 2010, Jane became a partner at The Real Estate Group and most recently, she was chosen to serve on the CAAR Board of Trustees. Jane is married to David Hay, a Glenwood High School Assistant Principal and Assistant Football Coach, and they have two sons.
