On my second trip to Arizona, not only did I get a chance to complete the living, dining and kitchen area of her home, I also got a chance to stage her master bedroom. She hadn't planned on buying new furniture for her bedroom when she first moved into her new home. So when we went to purchased her new living and dining room furniture we skipped the master bedroom. By the time I arrived the second time to her house she told me she had been thinking of buying some new furniture for the master bedroom. She said she wasn't pleased with it and rarely felt like spending anytime in it.
I have to tell you this was a gorgeous bedroom, extremely large, with a bay window sitting area that was flanked with beautiful plantation shutters and a fireplace to cozy up to, it also had an extended dressing area of the room with french doors that lead out to the second story covered balcony that over looked the beautiful Arizona Valley. An awesome place to watch the sunset, at night fall. So I asked myself what's missing. What could I do to change the look and feel of this room without spending any money? Because you know, it's not about the money!
So I went around the house and looked for art work, accessories and plants that would help me create a look she would be pleased to stay in. She had purchased some rugs for the living room that she was going to return because they weren't the right color. So I brought them upstairs to see if they would work in the room. I also found an old screen that I thought might work as a headboard. Well the rest is history. You can see the results with the before and after master bedroom photos.
We talked about two weeks later, she said, she and her husband love the room, She told me they never want to leave it now. She even told me she was thinking of putting in a kitchenette (that she would like me to help design) just so there is no reason to leave the room.
The great news is that with this staging project not one dollar was invested, I used what she already had to create a look and feel that my client loved, (and her husband, too).
