Why is Staging Important?
Being a realtor has afforded me the ability to see first hand what staging accomplishes. It's about depersonalizing, and decluttering the spaces in your house, which allows potential buyers to mentally move into your home and see themselves living in it.
The way we live in our homes and the way we market them are two different things
It's so true, and your decorating isn't ever wrong. It is your home and you can live in it the way you like. However, once your home goes on the market, it is now a "product". It is a house, not a home. That may require you to pack away from the sentiments and treasures you home holds (you are moving after all!) and open up the house so buyers can see the great benefits it offers. This is often the hardest step to go through as it is very personal. Just remember, the home is now becoming a house and we want to sell it quickly and for as much money as possible.
Is Staging for you?
I believe it can benefit every seller. When you go to sell your car, you detail it to show it off in its best light. Why wouldn't you do the same for your house? It doesn't have to be expensive, and stagers can tailor progams to work together as a team spending as little or as much money and effort as you like.
Who Does the work?
That is a great question, and the answer is it depends. As an ASP I can offer you many different packages to suit your budget. These can range from a quick walkthrough with verbal suggestions and you taking the notes and doing the work to a full blown staging where you decide which suggestions you want followed and we do the rest. We work as a team to decide what is best for your situation. There is never any pressure to invest more than you can afford to.
