There doesn't seem to be much particpation yet, I am anxious to be in some as well! I can tell you since I am just starting out as an ASP I used some pictures from my own house to use in my CareerBook and in Realtor Info. Hey, at least my house got cleaned up! Kim ktinNC
Hi ASPs! I am doing a Staging to Live on Saturday - and the reason the client picked an ASP versus a decorator is we told him what we would do and charge UP FRONT.
What I have found is that the decorators/designers charge a lower fee for their "consultation" visit - and then take a piece of the furniture purchase - a percentage of the cost - instead of what we do which is pass along discounts and bargains to our clients. There are no surprises when working with us, versus the decorator/designer that could end up in the thousands when all is said in done.
We do a 2-hour minimum which allows us to go and meet with the client for an hour, and then prepare a typed report summarizing the recommendations we come up with - and then provide specifics for resourcing furnishings, and paint colors, etc.
They have enough info to do the work themselves, or if they want us to help them do the work - we can come back and hand-hold for shopping, selections of things, and moving things around the house. Either way - the client ends up with a transformed house that uses their stuff, our expert advice, and it all looks great!
I do a lot of Staging To Live and it is a lot of fun! My customers are so excited about making the decision to update their home that sometimes they hang on every word. I recently got an appointment from a lady who had just sold a home in Virginia and had used a Stager. She now wanted to update her new home and was so happy with the Staging experience that she looked specifically for someone in the business. Good Luck, Becky
I'm doing a Huge Staging to live project and trying to fit in the holidays. It's fun and exciting to have her counting on me so much. Everything so far has turned out perfect.
I gave her the hourly shopping rate which required a retainer fee, and the seperate Creative Staging Service fee which will then be due when the Home is Staged.
Once the home is ready I will then throw an open house!
Exciting. Kristen Coppa
I agree, we pass along our discounts and there aren't any surprises with us.
We have several stage to live projects coming up. I am curious what other stagers for shopping? Do you charge a different fee per hour if the client is with you? When do you start the clock? These would be helpful discussions. Thanks
I am curious about how to increase this side of my business. I am doing nearly all vacant houses and it is very costly. I want to develop more business in the homeowner occupied homes as well as Staging to Live. Suggestions on how to reach these markets??
