After 35 plus years in the Corporate World, I came to clearly understand the meaning of "putting one's spin" on something. Sometimes the simplest of projects turned into monsterous problems simply because someone decided to not follow the basic steps or guidelines.
Now that I have begun a new chapter in my business career by starting my own staging company, I have seen the incredible value of simply following the basics as outlined in the ASP Training Course. Although I had years of business experience prior to starting my business, I none-the-less was not so brazen as to think that I "knew it all" and could do it better by doing it "my way." I have followed the basics as it pertains to marketing, to bid calculations and presentation, to professional policies, etc. And guess what??? IT WORKS!! Thanks for reinforcing that on the conference call Barb!
My suggestion.... leave the "spinning" to the publicists and the politicans! Certainly Britney needs it more that we do!!
LOL!
Good luck fellow ASP's.

During your call you were discussing staging inventory and mentioned a free.com website where one can purchase items requiring only a shipping fee. Could you please verify the website as I went to "www.free.com" where the items offered were not related to staging.

John here! I'm a first time blogger this is so new to me. I would like to say that after 20 years in the hospitality industry. Banquet and event planning was creative with very long hours and holidays. I made the career change to Staging and have been able to induldge my creative side and make my own hours and schedule. I found this art form years ago.

Me too, After 22 years working down on the docks as a Longshoreman and then a Marine Clerk, there is nothing like being a help to someone who needs my help. Designing part time was not enough- I had to 'dive in' and Staging Homes was my life raft. I love Staging and now I feel like "Everything I do is a SOLUTION" as a Realtor told me recently. Retiring early from my Union was the best move I ever made. I Love this business!!! Thank you Barb for your genius and foresight. This business is everything to me.

I too am interested in the free.com website. Anyone have any luck with it?
I've been staging for almost 2 years now - it's fantastic being able to make your own hours, working as much or as little as one wants!

The excitement, the joy, the adrenaline- there is nothing like it.
Staging is such a high!
One relator said to me, it's like magic!
Thanks Barb for every month keeping us pumped, informed, and having us go for better each time.
PS. What is that free.com?

I am confused. If a seller pays for the consultation and does all the work themselves, do we as stagers, come back to the house and deem it "staged"?

I am writing this post to help answer stagedright.com's question at the bottom of the list. The "3 steps," as they are currently taught in the ASP course, include a 1-hour "fine tuning" appointment. This is important because it gives you an opportunity to verify that the seller has finished the work, celebrate and praise them, give them closure with the "Home Staging Award" from the web site, adjust anything that's not quite right, and take your ASP Staging after.

Great conference call last night from Barb as always.
Even though I've heard it before I still cannot hear it enough- use more photos in our consultations and bids!
Thanks Barb

For "free" stuff try www.freecycle.com. You will be able to give away anything you might have as well as get things for free that others might have to give away in your area.

Hey fellow stagers-
I'm looking for some input please- do you all seek out homeowners/sellers and if so how do you market/advertise to this large potential group?
Thanks.
