I have to share this story with you. Kim Young, ASP, IAHSP, wrote this to me this weekend. He and his wife Trish Kim, ASP, ASPM, IAHSP have a very thriving business in the DC area. They were packing up from Staging a property when something happened that Young said, ‘blew him away’. Here is what he kindly wrote to me:
“Good morning Barb,
I wanted to tell you a very funny story that happened on Thursday proving that “you” have accomplished your goal of educating the “world” about Home Staging.
We had a very large staging project on Thursday in Old Towne Alexandria in the historic district where many tourists walk by and take photos of the rowhouses built in the 1700s on a cobblestone street. Towards the end of the day, our containers are stacked outside our truck to be loaded, and 3 senior Chinese tourists were looking at our truck and the containers curiously when I came out. I smiled and and asked the ladies if they had any questions, to which one replied if we are moving.
Thinking I will have to explain what we were doing, I said that the owners will be putting the house on the market shortly and we were making the house show really beautifully to sell quickly. To that one lady said in a Chinese accent “so you are STAGING.” My jaw dropped with an amazing realization that “you Barb” have accomplished what you set out to do – to educate the world about home staging.”

I must save that this story warmed my heart and made me feel so good. That is because since day one when anyone asked me what I wanted to do with my invention of Home Staging, I always reply: “I want to Stage the World.” Meaning that I wanted and want the whole world to know about Staging so that they can Stage homes for sale in every city, town, county and continent to help their sellers get top dollar.
